In a conversation with IANS, the 65-year-old Dr. Hemant Kumar stated on Sunday: "I have dedicated myself to the nephrology field for a long time—35 years to be exact. Throughout my career, I have treated patients without any selfish motives. This commitment is why I have been awarded the Padma Award."
He added, "This is a moment of great pride for me, and I sincerely thank both the Government of India and the Bihar government."
Dr. Hemant Kumar emphasized, "My work has always been selfless, not driven by the desire for accolades. From the start, my goal has been to discover methods to prevent kidney ailments. I will persist in my efforts to contribute positively to society."
