Patna, Aug 19 (NationPress) The chief of the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) and former Bihar minister Mukesh Sahani stated on Tuesday that the Voter Rights Yatra organized by the Grand Alliance is garnering significant public support throughout the state.
During his address, Sahani accused the BJP, with the assistance of the Election Commission, of attempting to undermine the Constitution and democracy through vote manipulation.
He remarked that the evident public outrage regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) indicates that citizens are unwilling to endure such practices.
“The people of Bihar are rising to defend democracy and ensure that the common man is prioritized. The substantial turnout for this yatra sends a clear signal—Biharis will not tolerate vote theft under any circumstances,” Sahani emphasized.
He also cautioned that the citizens of Bihar will oust vote thieves from power in the forthcoming elections.
Targeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Sahani pointed out that despite two decades in power and a claimed double-engine government, Bihar remains plagued by unemployment, poverty, and widespread migration.
He claimed that the state is grappling with an escalating debt crisis, yet the government lacks a viable strategy to tackle these issues.
Sahani's comments follow RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's announcement of Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Ministerial candidate for the Grand Alliance, heightening the political tension in Bihar as assembly elections approach.
The Voter Adhikar Yatra commenced from Sasaram on August 17, passing through Aurangabad and Gaya before reaching Nawada.
A public meeting is set to occur in Nawada later this evening, where Grand Alliance leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, Dipankar Bhattacharya, Rajesh Ram, Mukesh Sahani, and other prominent figures will address attendees.
The Grand Alliance leaders will take a pause on Wednesday and will continue their journey from Sheikhpura and Lakhisarai on Thursday.
