Kolkata, Nov 25 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asserted on Tuesday that the demonstrations by certain booth-level officers (BLOs) participating in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal, occurring for two consecutive days outside the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office in Kolkata, are merely a Trinamool Congress-orchestrated spectacle aimed at intimidating a Constitutional entity and undermining democracy.
The Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal (LoP) and senior BJP figure Suvendu Adhikari stated that the images and videos from the BLO protests over the past two days clearly depict a collection of Trinamool Congress affiliates hurling malicious slogans at the West Bengal CEO, Manoj Kumar Agarwal.
"The instigators are prominent allies of the Trinamool Congress. They are targeting essential Election Commission of India (ECI) officials such as Manoj Kumar Agarwal and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar for merely fulfilling their vital responsibility of ensuring free and fair elections," remarked the LoP.
He also questioned how many of the individuals involved in the protests were genuinely BLOs.
"In truth, this was a theatrically staged event by the foot soldiers of the Trinamool Congress. Their strategy is transparent: if they can't manipulate the system, they threaten the referee! Assaulting the ECI, a cornerstone of our Constitution, is not a protest; it constitutes treason against the people's mandate. They have employed every deceitful tactic, from fraudulent voter lists to electoral violence, and now this?" LoP Adhikari stated.
The BJP's Information Technology Cell Head and the party's central observer for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, also released a social media statement on Tuesday evening, accusing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of intimidating BLOs and threatening the state Chief Electoral Officer.
"The caretaker Chief Minister, who is still on notice, has escalated her tactics from bullying BLOs to threatening the CEO. It’s iconic. With less than six months remaining in her term, she now positions herself as the ultimate authority on everyone else's fate! Her reservoir of misconduct is overflowing, her concern for BLOs is non-existent, and she will disrupt the SIR if necessary. Yet, she will not prevail. As for the people's suffering? It doesn't even register on her radar," Malviya expressed in a post on X.
