Agartala, March 4 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, declared on Wednesday that the comprehensive advancement of the Janajati (tribal) community is a key objective of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led government.
During an organizational event at the headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) in Khumulwng, Saha expressed his assurance that the BJP would achieve a significant triumph in the forthcoming elections for both the tribal autonomous body and Village Committees.
Saha claimed that the BJP would establish the government in the 30-member TTAADC, emphasizing that the faith and confidence of the people in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the party have been consistently rising.
Earlier, a grand procession led by the Chief Minister traversed multiple roads in Khumulwng, featuring numerous party workers and supporters.
Regarding the approaching TTAADC elections, Saha noted that a large rally entitled 'Janajati Empowerment and Tripura Empowerment' was conducted in Khumulwng to rally support.
He affirmed that since taking office in 2014, Prime Minister Modi has focused on the upliftment of Janajati communities throughout the nation.
“In the future, only the Bharatiya Janata Party can guarantee genuine progress for the tribal populace. We are dedicated to making their welfare our top priority,” he stated.
The Chief Minister further pointed out that for a transformation in the current status of the TTAADC, the BJP needs the complete backing of the populace.
Pointing to the long history of “empty promises” made to the Janajati community, he asserted that the BJP is now realizing tangible progress.
With optimism, Saha predicted that the party would secure a decisive mandate in the upcoming TTAADC and Village Committee elections and form the government in this crucial constitutional body.
The organizational event also saw the presence of Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, BJP Pradesh General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, mandal leaders, and other party officials.
As the TTAADC elections approach, all major political parties—including the ruling BJP, its allies like the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) and the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), alongside opposition entities such as the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Indian National Congress—are intensifying efforts to consolidate support among tribal voters.
The pivotal elections for the TTAADC are anticipated to occur in March or April.
Since 2021, the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) has been managing the politically significant 30-member TTAADC, which encompasses nearly two-thirds of Tripura’s 10,491 sq km geographical area, housing over 12.16 lakh individuals, around 84 percent of whom are from indigenous communities.
The tribal population makes up nearly one-third of Tripura’s total population, estimated at about 4.2 million, rendering the upcoming elections a critical political contest in the state.
