Key Takeaways
Agartala, Feb 8 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, emphasized on Sunday that peace and inclusive development in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) can only be achieved under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He noted that the state government is dedicated to enhancing the socio-economic status of every individual.
While addressing a BJP organizational gathering at the TTAADC headquarters in Khumulwng, the Chief Minister highlighted the increasing competition among political factions striving to maintain or reclaim authority, emphasizing the necessity for a robust BJP-led administration in the tribal autonomous council for the upcoming elections.
The pivotal election for the 30-member TTAADC is anticipated to occur between March and April.
“It is heartening to witness the enthusiastic involvement of mothers and sisters in today’s assembly. This meeting clearly indicates the future direction of the TTAADC under the BJP,” stated Saha.
He acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi for revolutionizing the nation’s political framework by prioritizing transparency and accountability in governance. Highlighting the Prime Minister’s vow for a corruption-free administration, the Chief Minister remarked that a conducive and development-focused atmosphere has flourished across the nation and in Tripura under the BJP and NDA leadership.
The Chief Minister criticized former administrations for deceiving the populace and permitting extremism to thrive, which obstructed development across numerous areas.
“Development is impossible without peace. The BJP has reintegrated misguided factions into the mainstream, restoring peace and stability. Since our administration took office, we have prioritized development above all,” he affirmed.
Saha also criticized rival parties, asserting that their conflicting statements about government formations illustrate political disarray. He mentioned that illegal encroachments in urban settings have been removed for the public good, and the government is contemplating rehabilitation for those impacted, despite attempts by certain groups to mislead the community.
Issuing a firm warning, the Chief Minister stated that numerous illegal operations are ongoing within the TTAADC without proper legal authorization. He pointed out irregularities in establishing village committees and political misinformation regarding the proposed Bishramganj Nagar Panchayat, stating that such actions have already been brought to light.
“Negative politics will not serve the people. The BJP is devoted to prioritizing development in the TTAADC by ensuring transparency, legality, and peace. We must commit to establishing a BJP-led government in the TTAADC,” Saha concluded.
The meeting saw participation from BJP state President and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, state general secretary Bipin Debbarma, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, former MP Rebati Tripura, and various other party leaders and supporters.
Additionally, since 2021, the BJP’s junior coalition partner, the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), has been managing the politically crucial 30-member TTAADC, which spans nearly two-thirds of Tripura’s 10,491 square kilometers and is inhabited by over 12.16 lakh individuals, approximately 84 percent of whom belong to indigenous communities.
As the TTAADC elections approach, all significant political parties, including the ruling BJP, its ally the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), the TMP, and opposition parties like the CPI(M) and Congress, have intensified efforts to rally support among tribal populations, who represent nearly one-third of Tripura’s total population of around 4.2 million.
