Agartala, April 3 (NationPress) Tripura's Chief Minister, Manik Saha, declared on Friday that the forthcoming elections for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) would signify a historic milestone. He expressed optimism that the BJP would triumph in all 28 constituencies with a substantial margin, propelled by increasing backing from the Janajati (tribal) populace.

While addressing an election gathering in the Kathalia-Mirza-Rajapur area of Sepahijala district, Saha mentioned that the TTAADC elections are “not just an election but an opportunity to make history,” highlighting that the BJP is experiencing unmatched support throughout tribal areas.

During the rally, the Chief Minister welcomed over 500 individuals from the Tipra Motha Party (TMP) into the BJP, marking a significant political shift ahead of the elections. Among these new members was Amiya Dayal Noatia, the TMP candidate for the Dhanpur Assembly constituency in the 2023 elections.

Saha later remarked that such developments are clear indicators that the BJP is poised to achieve historic success in the TTAADC elections.

“For years, the CPI (M) and other regional parties have governed the TTAADC, but the people have received little in return. Now, the BJP, which has nominated candidates for all 28 seats, is stepping up. I urge everyone to cast their votes early in the morning to guarantee the BJP's success,” he added.

As a prominent BJP figure, Saha noted that under their administration, eight Janajati intellectuals were awarded the Padma Shri, a first for the state.

“Our government has also raised social pensions for Samajpatis (community leaders) and ensured that the Janajati communities receive proper respect. We have appointed dedicated officers at the district and sub-divisional levels to manage initiatives specifically aimed at Janajati welfare,” he stated.

The Chief Minister further criticized the Communist Party of India (Marxist), asserting that despite their lengthy rule, they failed to address enduring issues affecting indigenous communities, including the Reang refugee rehabilitation crisis, which was tackled under the BJP government.

“Thanks to our government's efforts, the insurgency has significantly decreased, leading many individuals to join the mainstream. We are also supporting traditional weavers by supplying materials. Additionally, we have honored cultural figures like Sachin Dev Burman by erecting his statue and renaming Agartala airport after the former king, Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport. We understand the importance of respecting our heritage and communities,” he added.

Focusing on developmental efforts, Saha announced that the state government has allocated a considerable budget for projects within TTAADC regions.

He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to establishing two medical colleges in ADC regions and a nursing and paramedical college in Khumulwng.

“We’re also setting up 21 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in Janajati areas and have requested essential relaxations to expedite their implementation. A range of projects is underway to guarantee the progress and development of Janajati communities. This election presents a chance to make history, and I am confident that the electorate will support the BJP enthusiastically,” he concluded.
