Jaipur, Jan 10 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Rajasthan administration for enhancing law and order in the region. He specifically commended Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for abolishing the Congress-era issues of paper leaks in police recruitment examinations.
During an event where nearly 9,000 Rajasthan Police Constables were appointed, including over 2,500 women, Home Minister Shah remarked that Chief Minister Sharma has not only bolstered the state's law and order but has also attracted investments under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
Shah pointed out that the BJP-led government in Rajasthan has successfully put an end to the era of paper leaks, while also reducing the overall crime rate by 14 percent.
He highlighted significant reductions in various crimes: dacoities decreased by 47 percent, loots by 51 percent, murders by 25 percent, attempts to murder by 19 percent, crimes against women by 10 percent, and crimes against SC/ST by 28 percent.
Commending Chief Minister Sharma for ensuring a transparent and merit-based recruitment process, Home Minister Shah emphasized, "A state can only progress when it uplifts its youth based on merit."
He also encouraged the new recruits to leverage the newly introduced criminal laws under PM Modi's vision for rapid justice.
"The introduction of three new criminal laws has resulted in an increase in the prosecution rate in Rajasthan from 41 percent to 60 percent. I am optimistic that we can elevate this to 85 percent, ensuring that all criminals remain incarcerated," he stated.
Earlier, Home Minister Shah urged citizens to support 'Make in India' products, considering it a surefire strategy to fulfill PM Modi's vision of achieving self-reliance and becoming the world's largest economy.
Addressing the 'Maheshwari Global Convention and Expo-2026' in Jodhpur, he asserted that the nation can only prosper through the use of indigenous products.
Praising the Maheshwari community, Shah noted, "Whether in India or abroad, it is commendable when a community stays connected to its roots. The Maheshwari community has always stepped up whenever the nation needed assistance, contributing significantly during the Mughal era and the fight for independence, including supporting leaders like Mahatma Gandhi."
