New Delhi, Feb 13 (NationPress) Prior to the inauguration of the new BJP government in Delhi, party legislator and former Assembly Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta on Thursday addressed a letter to Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, urging for the prompt execution of the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission and the allocation of Rs 2,406 crore under the scheme to enhance the city’s health services.

In his correspondence to Saxena, the newly-elected representative from Rohini stated that PM–ABHIM in conjunction with the Health Information Management System would significantly benefit the public healthcare system.

“The PM-ABHIM is currently being executed in all states and union territories across the nation, with the exception of NCT of Delhi. The introduction of this crucial initiative in Delhi would not only strengthen the public healthcare framework but also invigorate the stalled health infrastructure projects grappling with a substantial resource deficit,” he remarked.

Gupta mentioned that the PM-ABHIM was introduced in 2021 by the central government to address critical deficiencies in health infrastructure, surveillance, and health research, covering both rural and urban landscapes.

The legislator pointed out that under this Mission, the central government has authorized a financial allocation of Rs 2,406 crore for NCT of Delhi, which encompasses three primary components: Urban Health and Wellness Centres, District Integrated Public Health Labs, and Critical Care Blocks.

Advocating for the swift launch of the Health Information Management System in Delhi, Gupta emphasized, “In this digital age, health solutions that are digital are essential to guarantee that healthcare services are delivered equitably, transparently, and effectively.”

With the vision of digitizing healthcare processes, ensuring improved monitoring of patient records, optimizing hospital administration, preventing misappropriation of public funds, and augmenting overall health infrastructure, the implementation of the Health Information Management System (HIMS) in hospitals has been highlighted by the central government, he noted.

“Nevertheless, for reasons best known to the previous AAP government, the digital system has yet to be initiated in Delhi. In this regard, the NIC application ‘e-Hospital/Next Gen Hospital’ is accessible for this purpose and is successfully utilized in hospitals like Dr. RML Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital, and approximately 738 hospitals nationwide,” he concluded.
