Indore, Oct 6 (NationPress) On Monday, BJP Councillors from the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) approved a proposal aimed at the expulsion of Congress corporator Anwar Qadri, who has been arrested for allegedly financing operations related to 'love jihad' in the city.
BJP councillors, under the leadership of Mayor Pushyamitara Bhargava, convened at the party headquarters in Indore, where they resolved to submit a removal proposal for Anwar Qadri to the Municipal Corporation's assembly.
Confirming this development, Sumit Mishra, president of Indore (urban) district, stated that the proposal had received unanimous support from BJP councillors during the meeting. It is scheduled to be presented during the next session of the Indore Municipal Corporation.
“All BJP councillors are required to attend the House on the day the proposal to expel Anwar Qadri is introduced,” Mishra declared during a press briefing in Indore on Monday.
Anwar Qadri, who represents Ward No. 58 in Indore, is accused of allegedly providing funds to members of a minority community to “target,” “sexually assault,” and “religiously convert” women from different backgrounds.
The allegations against Qadri emerged in June when two men were apprehended for allegedly raping and attempting to convert women. Their confessions implicated Qadri in the case.
After an FIR was lodged against him at the Banganga police station on June 14, Qadri successfully evaded arrest for more than two months, prompting Indore police to place a bounty of Rs 40,000 on him.
He was finally apprehended in the last week of August. Previously, Qadri's daughter was also arrested in Delhi for allegedly assisting her father in avoiding capture.
The Congress party, currently the primary opposition in the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), has yet to respond to this situation.
