New Delhi, Nov 26 (NationPress) BJP's national spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi launched a fierce critique against West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding her recent comments on the ongoing Special Intensive Review (SIR) of the state's voter list.
Naqvi asserted that those who aim to undermine democratic and constitutional principles will ultimately fail.
This statement follows Banerjee's remarks on Tuesday, where she criticized the BJP and the Election Commission of India (ECI) concerning the SIR of the electoral roll, labeling the first draft roll as a potential "disaster".
During a public rally in a BJP stronghold located in North 24 Parganas, the Chief Minister warned, "2029 will be a perilous year for you. Your government will not endure. Where will you flee afterward? I will mobilize India if you strike me. I will traverse the nation following the (2026) state elections."
In an interview with IANS, Naqvi emphasized, "It is crucial to dispel the illusion that SIR results in freedom, lawlessness, or chaos. Those attempting to disrupt democratic and constitutional values through turmoil will not prevail. The SIR process is being purposefully distorted by some to instill fear and confusion, representing a grave conspiracy against the Constitution, democracy, and the nation's institutional integrity."
He added, "Those committed to this endeavor should realize that the public is aware of the situation, and this time they will impart a lesson to such individuals."
Earlier, Union Minister Giriraj Singh also criticized Banerjee, accusing her administration of facilitating the influx of illegal immigrants throughout the nation.
Singh claimed that the Trinamool Congress regime was jeopardizing national security for political advantage.
"Mamata Banerjee is permitting Bengal to become a sanctuary for illegal immigrants, including Rohingyas, while her administration issues official documents that aid their proliferation across the country. The Bengal government relies on the support of these illegal immigrants and promotes animosity against the Constitution and Hindus," Singh stated.
Responding to Banerjee's recent comments on the SIR of electoral rolls, Singh remarked that her opposition signifies political "collapse".
"Her government is on the verge of falling. A shift in power is imminent, and actions will soon be enacted on the ground. Illegal immigrants will also be expelled, and in the future, states like Bengal will implement the NRC," he concluded.
