Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 10 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has vehemently criticized the Congress party for alleged derogatory comments made by its leaders regarding Gujaratis, accusing them of engaging in "divisive and abusive politics" following their continued electoral failures.
BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla condemned Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar for his purported statements about Gujaratis, asserting that these remarks are indicative of a broader issue within the Congress.
"This is not a haven of love; they are the 'bhaijaan' of animosity. What Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge previously remarked, labeling individuals from Gujarat and North India as uneducated and uncivilized, followed by a feigned apology, is no mere accident. This is a calculated strategy; the Congress has evolved into a factory for spreading falsehoods," Poonawalla stated.
He also questioned whether the Gujarat Congress faction supports such sentiments, claiming that the party resorts to "abusing people, inciting discord between states, and provoking divisions based on caste and religion" whenever it faces electoral defeat.
"This demonstrates their (Congress) attitude. The Congress has turned 'anti-Gujarat,'" Poonawalla further remarked.
BJP member Rohan Gupta echoed the sentiments, criticizing Congress for their 'anti-Gujarat' stance and stating, "Congress leaders have become accustomed to belittling Gujarat in any manner possible to advance their political agenda."
Poonawalla also targeted Congress leader Husain Dalwai, suggesting that public insults have become a signature characteristic of the historic party.
"Insulting the electorate has become synonymous with the Congress party. This isn't the first instance where Congress leaders have disparaged citizens who vote for the BJP, which includes millions of people," he noted.
He referenced previous comments by Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, who called voters 'demons' if they support the BJP, alleging that the Congress has consistently shown disrespect towards voters.
"They (Congress) perceive themselves as above the populace and prioritize dynastic politics over democratic values. This incident involving Husain Dalwai is not an isolated case; it reflects the essence of the Congress party," the BJP spokesperson stated.
In contrast, Shehzad Poonawalla emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP regard the public as paramount.
"The BJP holds the belief that people are supreme, akin to God, viewing them as sacred and positioning itself as their servant," he concluded.
