Is the BJP Using AI to Remove Voters' Names in Bengal?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, Dec 30 (NationPress) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asserted on Tuesday that the names of voters are being eliminated from the electoral rolls utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI), demanding the resignation of Amit Shah as the Union Home Minister.
While addressing a public gathering at Barjora in Bankura district, Chief Minister Banerjee accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of aiming to eliminate 1.5 crore names from Bengal's voters' list.
"Do not trust every video circulating on social media. Nowadays, with AI, they (BJP) have removed the names of 54 lakh voters. It is evident that the BJP is involved in this. Duplicate names are being created to infringe upon your voting rights. On polling day, you may discover that you cannot vote because someone with the same name has already cast your vote. Stay vigilant. The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) spells your disaster," the Chief Minister elaborated.
She further insisted that Booth Level Agents (BLAs) should be present during the SIR hearing sessions.
"BLAs are barred from entering polling hearing centers. Instructions are being sent via WhatsApp. If you (Election Commission) have the courage, provide us with written confirmation. We will pursue justice in the people's court and legal court," said CM Banerjee.
She also urged BLAs to remain at SIR camps established by the Trinamool Congress to assist individuals summoned for SIR hearings.
"What was the fault of an elderly individual from Purulia? He was summoned for an SIR hearing yesterday and, feeling humiliated, took his own life. Is there no empathy? If your parents were called for hearings, wouldn't you feel ashamed? How can a 95-year-old woman be called for a hearing at an office requiring her to climb stairs? This person must also provide proof of citizenship. Have some decency and cease harassing the people of Bengal under the guise of SIR," Chief Minister Banerjee stated.
