Bengaluru, Oct 11 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah criticized BJP leaders for their absence at the inaugural Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) meeting, asserting that they have shown resistance to the city’s progress. He noted that their participation would have allowed them to share their perspectives.
Siddaramaiah made these statements in a media interaction in Bengaluru on Saturday.
When asked about the BJP's non-attendance at the GBA meeting, he remarked that if BJP leaders were truly invested in the city's future, they would not have missed such a significant event.
He emphasized that the GBA functions as a vital platform for democratic engagement.
“The BJP seems to be against the idea of administrative decentralization. Bengaluru has expanded significantly, and it is crucial to segment the city to enhance governance and services for its residents—a stance the BJP previously endorsed, yet they now oppose it. There’s no chance of BJP regaining power,” he stated.
Earlier, he launched the “Hampana 90” literary review program at Gandhi Bhavan in Bengaluru.
Siddaramaiah characterized Hampana not merely as a literary figure but as a transformative writer.
“Hampana has found purpose in life through social awareness. He is Nagrajayya, a source of pride for Kannadigas. Being able to witness his literary journey is an honor. His life, works, and dedication provide valuable guidance for society,” remarked the Chief Minister.
He acknowledged that Hampana's impact transcends creative writing; as President of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, he has been instrumental in promoting the Kannada language.
“It is of great importance that his contributions have resonated within the Kannada literary community,” he added.
“Hampana has excelled across various literary domains, including linguistics, research, children’s literature, and literary criticism. He is also a gifted orator. Society greatly benefits from his work. He has served as an educator and as the Director of the Kannada Study Centre. Although I am not a literature scholar, my engagement with the literary world has deepened, and I hold a high regard for Hampana,” he concluded.
He expressed his hopes for Hampana’s continued health and longevity.
The Chief Minister also lauded Kamala and Hampana as an exceptional duo, both of whom have made significant contributions to Kannada cultural life.
