Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Thiruvananthapuram, April 9 (NationPress) As the Kerala Assembly elections unfold, BJP National Secretary Anil K. Antony stated that his party is currently the only political entity experiencing a positive momentum in the state, expressing confidence that it will soon become the dominant party.
In an interview with IANS, Anil K. Antony remarked, "We firmly believe that the BJP is the only party on an upward trend in Kerala right now. The party boasts an elected MP in the region and oversees numerous municipalities and gram panchayats. Additionally, we manage the largest municipal corporation in the state, where we hold both the mayoral and deputy mayoral positions."
He conveyed optimism regarding the party's chances in the ongoing elections, stating, "This time, we anticipate several MLAs from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram, as we have formidable candidates in each district. We hope many of them will achieve victory."
Antony also mentioned that the BJP is poised to take on a more significant role in Kerala's political sphere post-elections.
"After this election, you will witness the party emerge as a key player in Kerala politics. The BJP will maintain its growth trajectory and eventually become the largest party in the state," he added.
Meanwhile, the voting process across Kerala has kicked off briskly, with significant turnout noted among the state's approximately 2.71 crore voters, who are set to determine the next government. Even before dawn, the electoral machinery was fully functional. By 5:30 a.m., all 30,471 polling booths were operational, with officials conducting the necessary mock polling procedures.
Importantly, nearly two lakh voters had already utilized the home voting facility prior to polling day.
Despite the official end of campaigning, candidates from all three major political fronts made last-minute efforts to connect with undecided voters and key influencers, underscoring the high stakes and fierce competition of this election.
Voters expressed a desire for ongoing development and political stability while also pointing out unemployment as a significant concern in the state.
