BJP's Anil Antony Denounces Congress and CPI-M for Vote Bank Politics in Kerala
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 26 (NationPress) Anil Antony, a prominent leader of the Kerala Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accused the Congress and CPI-M of partaking in "vote bank politics" in the region as the Assembly elections approach next month.
This accusation follows an intense critique from Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who targeted the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, claiming that the Congress and its leader have long acted as the "B-team of the BJP". Vijayan also dismissed allegations of a supposed alliance between the CPI(M) and BJP.
In a conversation with IANS, Antony stated, "We are all aware of who the B-team is; just observe Kerala's current political landscape. The CPI-M and the Congress are both part of the national INDI alliance. This is purely about vote bank politics. For the sake of political gain, they accuse each other of collaborating with us (BJP)."
He noted recent seat-sharing agreements in states such as Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, where both the CPI-M and Congress are coalition partners. He highlighted that they have allied in Bihar and Bengal, and in over twenty states nationwide.
Antony remarked, "Statements made by Congress MP K.C. Venugopal and now Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan reflect their continuous engagement in vote bank politics."
Venugopal had recently suggested a hidden political rapport between the CPI-M and the BJP, labeling Vijayan as a "compromised Chief Minister".
Antony further accused both Congress and CPI-M of instigating confusion in Kerala as the elections draw near, asserting, "They are fabricating political narratives to mislead the public. For a considerable time, both parties have collaborated to marginalize the BJP in Kerala."
As the BJP gears up for the elections, Antony emphasized, "Our focus is exclusively on a development-centric narrative, unlike the other two parties that dwell on communalism and confusion."
He concluded, "BJP's objective is to emerge as the leading political force in Kerala, ensuring that both CPI-M and Congress are kept out of power in the forthcoming Assembly elections."
