Bhubaneswar, Nov 29 (NationPress) BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra on Saturday condemned Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Akhilesh Yadav, leader of the Samajwadi Party, and Maulana Mehmood Madani, head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, for disseminating "divisive narratives, misinformation, and corruption".
Patra specifically criticized Madani's recent address at the governing council meeting of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in Bhopal, labeling it as "inflamatory and divisive".
"Madani spoke about fracturing the nation and invoking jihad should there be aggression. Such declarations are perilous, irresponsible, and profoundly objectionable," Patra stated, asserting that these remarks aim to "mislead" the community and "incite unrest" across the country.
The BJP representative also denounced Madani’s assertion that the Supreme Court operates under governmental influence and should not bear the title "Supreme", condemning it as a calculated effort to undermine public trust in constitutional frameworks.
"Even an ordinary citizen making such claims would be scrutinized rigorously. The Supreme Court ought to take suo motu notice of these unfounded and incendiary statements," Patra urged.
Patra further criticized Madani for his "derogatory"Vande Mataram, insisting, "Vande Mataram is the essence of India; it is not merely a religious chant but a homage to Mother India."
He emphasized that numerous freedom fighters laid down their lives while chanting the national anthem, particularly as the nation commemorates its 150th anniversary this year.
Turning to Akhilesh Yadav, Patra accused him of intentionally sowing "confusion" about the Centre’s Special Incentive Rules (SIR).
"Akhilesh wrongly claimed that SIR would eliminate jobs, abolish reservations, and escalate prices. This reflects a total misunderstanding. He should first read and comprehend what SIR truly entails before politicizing it for electoral advantage," Patra remarked.
He alleged that opposition leaders, including Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, and Tejashwi Yadav, routinely "create panic before every election" when sensing defeat.
In light of political rhetoric, Patra highlighted recent economic data, praising India's Q2 GDP growth of 8.2 percent as "historic" and significantly surpassing global forecasts of 6.5–7.5 percent.
"Every sector, including agriculture, services, industry, and the digital economy, is thriving despite global recessionary challenges. These statistics reflect the strength of economic policies under Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he noted.
Focusing on Mamata Banerjee, the BJP spokesperson alleged a Rs 100-crore scam in the distribution of flood compensation in Malda district, West Bengal.
"Funds intended for 14,000 affected beneficiaries were unlawfully misappropriated. The Calcutta High Court has already mandated a second CAG audit following the first report that revealed significant irregularities," Patra stated, accusing the Trinamool Congress government of shielding corrupt officials and beneficiaries.
Concluding the press briefing, Patra emphasized that while India is achieving economic milestones and advancing in all sectors, "certain opposition factions are attempting to cast a shadow through statements on jihad, fabrications regarding policy issues, and corruption scandals."
"India represents development, unity, and progress. The country's populace is aligned with Prime Minister Modi, not with divisive politics," he asserted.
