Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Quetta, March 28 (NationPress) The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has publicly acknowledged its involvement in a series of synchronized assaults aimed at telecommunications facilities and a Frontier Corps (FC) outpost throughout Balochistan. These attacks have reportedly resulted in casualties among security forces and extensive material destruction, as reported by local news outlets on Saturday.
In a media announcement, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch detailed that their operatives executed an operation on March 26 in the Bhawani region of Hub Chowki, where they set ablaze and dismantled equipment at a mobile tower site, alleging its role in surveillance activities.
The spokesperson further indicated that on March 22, BLF fighters unleashed rocket fire targeting an FC outpost in the Charfanok area of Shehrak within the Kech district, leading to both casualties and infrastructure damage, according to The Balochistan Post.
Moreover, during this incident, equipment at a nearby Ufone telecommunications tower was also ignited, rendering it non-functional.
Earlier in the week, an explosion aimed at Pakistani forces in the Zarkho area of Daghari, located in the provincial capital Quetta, resulted in injuries, as per reports from The Balochistan Post.
This detonation occurred as army personnel approached the site of a newly constructed post on foot.
Reports indicate that the casualty figures have not been independently verified.
Separately, on Wednesday, at least three bomb disposal personnel from Pakistan met their end in an explosion in the Manguchar area of Kalat district while attempting to deactivate an explosive device.
Last week, local media indicated that the BLF initiated attacks in the Kech district, resulting in the deaths of three Pakistani personnel and critically injuring four others.
Additionally, the armed faction targeted Pakistan-supported death squads in the Washuk district, leading to the death of three operatives.
In a statement, BLF spokesperson Gwahram asserted that based on reliable intelligence, their fighters executed an assault on members of a state-supported 'death squad' in the Garari area of Washuk on March 17.
He claimed these death squads had established a temporary checkpoint along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) highway, reportedly harassing motorists and demanding extortion before the BLF fighters encircled them and opened fire.
In another coordinated effort, Gwahram noted that BLF fighters targeted a Pakistani army camp on March 16 in the Malant area of Tump within Kech.
These latest developments occur against a backdrop of intensifying assaults by Baloch militant factions aimed at Pakistani military and police forces throughout Balochistan in recent days, resulting in significant casualties and damage to infrastructure.
