Mumbai, July 13 (NationPress) Television actor Rahul Sharma, who currently portrays Anshuman in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has expressed his insights on the evolving landscape of television content.

Sharma noted that boldness in television is gaining momentum, with programs becoming increasingly experimental and liberated compared to the past. He remarked, "There’s no doubt that boldness has surged in films, on OTT platforms, and even on television. However, this also creates a misleading notion — that being bold inherently makes one admirable or popular. The belief that boldness guarantees praise, attention, and followers is flawed. In reality, it often results in the objectification of individuals, especially young women entering the industry. Furthermore, boys absorbing this narrative may develop a distorted view, leading to diminished respect for women and an increased tendency to objectify them."

He continued, "Content mirrors society, but now society is significantly influenced by content. The continual exposure to certain themes, such as extreme boldness, transient relationships, or familial dysfunctions, shapes young minds. They begin to accept what they see as normal. Parenting has also evolved; softer parenting styles are now prevalent. Children are maturing in an entirely different emotional climate. They are less resilient, lack patience, and struggle to grasp what truly matters. They are easily swayed and often emotionally vulnerable."

When questioned about whether audiences are becoming overly exposed to personal and emotional content onscreen, Rahul Sharma asserted that we are inundated with stimulation across all facets of life, constantly surrounded by an overwhelming influx of content, visuals, and opinions. "We are excessively exposed to everything. This overexposure is one of the greatest challenges we face. The constant barrage of content and opinions fosters impatience and intolerance," he stated.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, produced by Rajan Shahi under the banner of Director’s Kut Production, features Rohit Purohit and Samridhii Shukla in leading roles.

Point of View

It is essential to recognize that while boldness in content can spark conversations, it also poses potential risks regarding societal values and perceptions. Striking a balance between creative expression and responsible portrayal of themes is crucial for the future of Indian television.
