Key Takeaways
Vadodara, March 5 (NationPress) A bomb threat was reported via email to the Vadodara District Court on Thursday, leading to a swift evacuation of the building and comprehensive security measures taken by the authorities, as stated by officials.
The threat was directed at the court complex situated in the Diwalipura area and was received shortly after the court opened its doors for the day.
In response, police promptly shut down all entry points to the complex, preventing lawyers and litigants from entering.
Individuals already inside the premises were evacuated as a precautionary measure, resulting in a temporary suspension of all court activities.
Law enforcement teams, along with specialized dog units and the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), initiated a thorough search operation throughout the court grounds.
Security protocols were heightened as officials meticulously examined the buildings and surrounding areas for any suspicious items.
Vadodara Police Commissioner Narasimha Komar reported to IANS that the bomb threat was received via email in the morning hours.
"The bomb threat was communicated through email at approximately 10:30 a.m., coinciding with the court's opening time," he noted.
Following the alert, police teams and specialized units commenced a search of the premises.
"Currently, extensive checks are being conducted by police officials and bomb squads. As of now, no suspicious objects have been discovered," Komar added.
The Commissioner also mentioned that the email account utilized in this latest threat differs from those of previous incidents.
"The email address this time is new compared to past cases and belongs to an 'Outlook' account," he stated.
Furthermore, Komar explained that the content of the email was written in Gujarati and included references to political matters outside the state.
"The email's content is in Gujarati and pertains to the politics of Tamil Nadu, including mentions of the DMK and related topics. We are investigating the source of the email as our inquiries progress," he said.
Police officials revealed that a similar bomb threat had been received via email just 15 days prior.
On that occasion, police and cyber cell teams conducted detailed searches, but no explosives or suspicious items were found, leading to the threat being deemed a hoax.
Authorities are now engaged in a fresh investigation into the recent email to trace its origin, while security checks at the court complex continue.
