Hyderabad, Feb 15 (NationPress) The Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital’s unit in Andhra Pradesh is set to be completed within this year, according to the well-known Tollywood actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, who serves as the chairman and managing director of the hospital's Board of Trustees.

This new facility is under construction in Thulluru, Amaravati, for which the Andhra Pradesh government allocated 15 acres back in 2018.

On Saturday, Balakrishna opened the pediatric oncology unit at the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad to commemorate International Childhood Cancer Day.

During the event, the Tollywood icon emphasized that the hospital is broadening its services. He declared that the new establishment in Thulluru is expected to be inaugurated in eight months.

Balakrishna expressed that with determination, cancer patients can overcome the illness.

The hospital was founded by former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and celebrated actor Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao (NTR) in honor of his wife Basavatarakam, who was herself a cancer patient.

NTR’s son, Balakrishna, who is also a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, currently leads the Board of Trustees.

Established by the Nandamuri Basavataraka Ramarao Memorial Cancer Foundation (NBTRCF) in collaboration with the Indo-American Cancer Organisation (IACO), USA, the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad has been delivering exceptional cancer care for over two decades.

The institution is guided by a board of philanthropists and medical experts, gaining recognition for its advanced cancer diagnosis and treatment, consistently ranking among the top cancer hospitals in India.

Music composer and playback singer S. Thaman also attended the inauguration of the pediatric oncology unit.

At the event, Balakrishna gifted a Porsche car to Thaman, referring to him as his brother. “Thaman is like my younger brother. I have presented him a car for his four consecutive hits. Our collaboration will persist in the future,” stated Balayya, as he is affectionately known.

Thaman has provided music and vocals for Balayya’s films including ‘Dictator’, ‘Akhanda’, ‘Veera Simha Reddy’, ‘Bhagavanth Kesari’, and the recently released ‘Daku Maharaj’.

Thaman is also set to be the music director for Balayya’s upcoming film ‘Akhanda 2’.
