Patna, Feb 3 (NationPress) In a significant development, the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) has successfully apprehended the infamous criminal Manoj Singh, known as ‘Doctor’, along with his son Manik Singh, in Bengaluru. This marks the conclusion of an extensive manhunt that lasted for several years.

The arrest of this father-son pair, who have a long history of criminal activities in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha, is considered a major achievement for law enforcement.

The duo posed a significant challenge for police due to their well-established criminal network and numerous attempts to avoid capture.

Authorities are optimistic that their arrest will significantly disrupt the organized crime syndicates that operate across state lines.

Prior to their capture, both Manoj and Manik posted a video on social media expressing their concern about a potential fake encounter while claiming they were willing to surrender peacefully.

In the video, they urged the police to bring handcuffs, emphasizing their readiness to comply with the law.

Manik Singh, who hails from Naubatpur in Patna district, is accused of leading a criminal gang alongside his father.

Records indicate that the two have been implicated in approximately 40 to 50 serious criminal cases, including murder, kidnapping, robbery, extortion, and Arms Act violations, with complaints filed at various police stations across Patna, such as Khagaul, Danapur, Bihta, Dulhinbazar, Paliganj, Shahpur, Bikram, Naubatpur, Barh, and Rani Talab.

Their criminal activities also extend into Jharkhand, with cases documented in Jamshedpur, Ranchi, and Hazaribagh.

Police sources revealed that Manik Singh had been evading arrest for nearly five years.

Previously, the duo was apprehended in 2015 but went underground after securing bail.

To escape law enforcement, they reportedly sought refuge in Jharkhand before relocating to Bengaluru.

Recently, the Patna Police escalated their crackdown on the gang, resulting in the arrest of eight known associates along with firearms, tightening the noose around Manoj and Manik Singh, ultimately leading to their capture by the STF.

Manik Singh's criminal journey began at the tender age of 12, when he allegedly shot a marble businessman in Khagaul.

He later allied with notorious criminal Ranjit Chaudhary in Jamshedpur to commit several crimes, including the murder of a contractor.

In a recent incident, Manik was reported to have demanded ₹50 lakh in extortion from a construction firm. When his demands went unmet, his accomplices allegedly launched an attack at the construction site.

The gang is notorious for extorting money from businesspeople and contractors through WhatsApp communications.

Manoj Singh, widely recognized as ‘Doctor Sahib’ within the criminal community, embarked on his criminal path following the murder of his father, Ramayan Singh, in 1988.

In an act of revenge, he shot and killed Chhotelal Singh in 1989, gaining notoriety after his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of Dr. Ramesh Chandra from Patna, which led to Naubatpur becoming a crime hotspot.

Approximately five years ago, the pair was arrested in Bikram with a substantial arsenal of weapons.

However, following their release on bail, they reportedly resumed their criminal enterprises.

With their capture, the STF is anticipated to unveil critical information regarding the gang's operations, funding sources, and possible political or criminal connections during questioning.

Officials believe this operation could pave the way for further arrests and the dismantling of a long-standing criminal network.

This arrest sends a powerful message that no criminal, regardless of their influence or reach, will be spared, as stated by law enforcement.
