New Delhi, Oct 23 (NationPress) In a significant victory against organized crime, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police, in collaboration with Bihar Police, successfully eliminated four notorious criminals during a late-night encounter in Rohini, as reported by the Delhi Police on Thursday.
The deceased individuals—identified as Ranjan Pathak, Bimlesh Mahto, Manish Pathak, and Aman Thakur—were wanted for crimes with a cumulative reward of Rs 1 lakh for their capture.
This operation was executed under the guidance of DCP (Crime Branch) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, following a tip-off from Bihar Police regarding the movement of this criminal gang within Delhi.
The four members of the infamous Sigma gang, linked to several high-profile murders in Bihar, were reportedly planning a major criminal act during the upcoming Assembly elections, according to police officials.
In a rapid response, a collaborative task force from both police departments initiated the operation based on a mix of technical surveillance and human intelligence.
At approximately 2:20 AM on the night of October 22-23, law enforcement intercepted a white Maruti Suzuki Baleno near Pancholi Park, Bahadur Shah Marg, Rohini.
When instructed to halt, the suspects initiated an unprovoked gunfire assault on the police team.
“Upon being signaled to stop, the occupants of the vehicle began firing at the police without provocation. The police retaliated in self-defense, resulting in a brief shootout in which all four suspects were injured,” stated the police in an official release.
All four criminals were swiftly transported to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, where medical staff declared them deceased upon arrival.
According to reports from Delhi Police, the suspects were wanted in multiple cases concerning murder, armed assault, and illegal weapon possession.
“These criminals were implicated in numerous serious offenses. Based on surveillance and technical information, they were tracked heading towards Bahadur Shah Marg, Rohini, Delhi,” added the police statement.
“These individuals had a reward of Rs. 1,00,000 placed on their capture,” it further noted.
The police also recovered three semi-automatic pistols, one homemade firearm, and the vehicle used by the criminals.
