Patna, May 25 (NationPress) In a significant achievement, the Naugachia Police in Bihar, in collaboration with the Special Task Force (STF), have successfully neutralized a wanted criminal, Sanoj Kumar Mandal alias Gurudev Mandal, as reported on Saturday.
Mandal was implicated in over 15 serious criminal cases, including robbery and murder, spanning multiple districts in Bihar.
Confirming this operation, Naugachia SP Prerna Kumar stated: “We received a tip-off indicating that Sanoj Kumar Mandal and his associates had gathered near a residence at Murli Chowk under the Rangra police station, plotting to execute a significant crime. Acting promptly, we assembled a joint team of Rangra police and STF to conduct a raid.”
When the police team approached the site late Friday night, the suspects opened fire on them in an attempt to escape under the cover of darkness. The joint team retaliated and returned fire.
While several individuals managed to flee, Sanoj Kumar Mandal was discovered lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Naugachia but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
A resident of Purnea district, Mandal had more than 15 cases pending against him in Purnea and Bhagalpur alone. He is also allegedly linked to various crimes in Katihar, Kishanganj, Araria, and Madhepura districts.
SP Prerna Kumar further remarked: “We have notified police departments in the relevant districts to gather more information regarding his criminal history. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team is also involved, and several incriminating items, including a carbine and a homemade Katta, were seized from him.”
The Naugachia police are diligently working to identify and apprehend the fleeing gang members.
“A dedicated team has been established to track down his accomplices and dismantle the entire network,” she stated.
SP Prerna Kumar expressed that this operation marks a significant victory for the police department, and the officers involved in this encounter will be rewarded.
