Patna, Dec 19 (NationPress) The police in Saran, Bihar, have successfully cracked the shocking kidnapping case involving local physician Dr. Sajal Kumar. Six individuals have been apprehended, including the chief conspirator, an anesthesiologist who resided with the victim.

At a press briefing on Friday evening, Saran SSP Kumar Ashish stated that the kidnapping plot was devised from within, rather than by an outside faction.
“The entire scheme was orchestrated by Dr. S.N. Singh, an anesthesiologist who lived with Dr. Sajal Kumar. He enlisted criminals to abduct the doctor and intended to demand a ransom of about Rs 1 crore,” the SSP reported.
The suspects have been identified as Dr. S.N. Singh alias Shivnarayan Singh from East Boring Canal Road, Patna (the mastermind), Monti Bharti, an employee of Dr. Singh from Ballabhgarh, Haryana, Dheeraj Giri from Sahebganj, Chhapra, Ranjan Rai from Dahiyanwa, Nagar police station area, Chhapra, Sonu Rai from Avtar Nagar police station area, Chhapra, and Golu Kumar, who was arrested earlier during the investigation.
The incident occurred on December 17, 2025, when Dr. Sajal Kumar was kidnapped, prompting the registration of a case (no. 734/25) at Nagar police station.
An SIT was established under the direction of the SSP, led by ASP Ram Pukar Singh.
During questioning, suspects Ranjan Rai and Sonu Rai disclosed the whereabouts of firearms concealed in a garden behind P.N. Singh College in Bhagwan Bazar.
Upon the police team's arrival to retrieve the weapons, both suspects attempted to flee, opening fire on the officers.
“In self-defense, police fired at their legs. Both suspects were injured and apprehended on-site. They are currently receiving medical treatment,” stated Ashish.
A separate FIR has been filed at Bhagwan Bazar police station linked to the encounter.
Police recovered two homemade pistols, one standard pistol, two live cartridges, and five spent cartridges.
The mobile devices of Dr. Sajal Kumar’s driver and caretaker, which were taken during the abduction, were also retrieved from the suspects.
Authorities noted that multiple serious criminal cases are recorded against Ranjan Rai and Sonu Rai at various police stations.
The Saran SSP confirmed that further investigations are ongoing, with additional revelations anticipated in this case.
