Patna, Dec 19 (NationPress) The local police have detained two individuals linked to an attempted abduction of a doctor in Chhapra, Bihar, following a confrontation in the Revelganj locality of the district.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Ranjan Yadav and Sonu Rai.
Both men incurred gunshot wounds to their legs during the police operation late Thursday night and were rushed to Sadar Hospital, Chhapra, where their condition is currently deemed stable.
In a statement confirming the incident, Saran Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kumar Ashish stated that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was quickly assembled due to the case's alarming nature.
As per the SSP's account, the incident took place on Wednesday night at approximately 10:20 p.m., when five assailants attempted to abduct prominent doctor Sajal Kumar while he was returning home with his driver and assistant.
“The doctor displayed remarkable presence of mind and successfully leaped from the moving vehicle. He promptly notified the police,” Ashish explained.
After receiving the complaint, police reviewed CCTV footage from the vicinity and successfully pinpointed the suspects.
Acting on intelligence reports, police units located the suspects in a garden adjacent to BN Singh College.
“Upon arrival, police attempted to search the suspects, recovering weapons in the process. The accused then attempted to escape by firing at the police. In response, law enforcement used force to apprehend them,” SSP Ashish elaborated.
The SSP also mentioned that operations are ongoing to capture the remaining individuals involved in this crime.
“We will take stringent action against anyone engaged in criminal activities. Our teams are actively conducting raids to apprehend the remaining suspects,” he affirmed.
