The CBI initiated this case on Tuesday following a written complaint from Vinit Rana, the director of Khedapati Security Services.
Rana reported that the accused, Ranjan Bharti, Senior Secretariat Assistant, solicited a bribe of Rs 60,000 to expedite the payment of bills amounting to Rs 3.84 lakh for security and manpower services rendered.
The investigative agency set a trap the same day and caught Bharti in the act of accepting the bribe through a banking channel.
Subsequently, he was arrested and presented before a Special CBI Court on Friday, which remanded him to three days in police custody.
Upon receiving the complaint, the CBI conducted an initial inquiry and found sufficient grounds to register a case under corruption laws.
The report from the CBI indicated that the complaint and preliminary verification revealed the commission of cognizable offenses punishable under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Rana disclosed that his agency was awarded a tender on May 1, 2025, to provide security manpower services at the Kendriya Vidyalaya.
He stated that two of his agency's bills for the initial month of service were still outstanding as Bharti delayed their clearance.
Rana emphasized that he did not engage with Bharti and was unwilling to pay any bribe.
In response to his complaint, Superintendent of Police and head of the CBI, ACB Branch, Bhopal, Shubhendra Katta, ordered the registration of an FIR against Bharti.
