Those detained include the Deputy Chief Engineer, a Senior Section Engineer (SSE) of Drawings, an Office Superintendent (OS) from Northern Railway in Lucknow, along with two private individuals associated with a railway contracting firm.
The suspects have been placed in judicial custody by the Special CBI Court in Lucknow until July 28. The case, initiated on July 14, involves multiple railway officials from both Northern and North Eastern Railways, including personnel based in Varanasi and Lucknow.

Following the arrests, the CBI executed searches at 11 locations—four in Lucknow, six in Varanasi, and one in Ghaziabad. Numerous incriminating documents and materials were seized during these operations, bolstering the case.
An Assistant Executive Engineer (XEN) from Northern Railway, who reportedly received Rs 2.75 lakh in bribes, remains at large.
The CBI is diligently pursuing leads to locate and apprehend him. The investigation is ongoing, with the CBI suggesting that further arrests and disclosures are forthcoming as the case develops.
