New Delhi, March 4 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended nine railway officials in connection with a Departmental Examination Paper Leak Scam associated with the East Central Railway in Mughal Sarai, just before the examination set for Tuesday, as reported by an official.

To date, a total of 26 railway officials have been detained in this case, with investigators confiscating ₹1.17 crore that was allegedly collected from candidates for the leaked question papers.

The East Central Railway had arranged a Departmental Examination on Tuesday for the roles of Chief Loco Inspectors.

During inspections carried out by the CBI in the early hours of March 3 at Mughal Sarai, 17 candidates were discovered with photocopies of handwritten question papers, according to the official.

The individuals arrested by the federal investigative agency include Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (Ops) Sushant Prashar and Senior DEE Indu Prakash, as stated by an official.

Investigations have uncovered that the accused Sr. DEE (Ops) was tasked with creating the question paper for this examination. He allegedly wrote the questions in English by hand and provided them to a Loco Pilot, who then translated them into Hindi before passing them to an OS (Trg.).

According to the CBI, the OS (Trg.) purportedly distributed the questions to candidates through several other railway employees.

The CBI has detained the accused Sr. DEE (Ops) along with other railway staff on charges of collecting money and disseminating the question papers.

Seventeen candidates employed as Loco Pilots reportedly paid for the question papers and were caught in possession of the copies, leading to their arrest.

In total, 26 railway officials have been arrested in connection with this case. Some of the individuals named in the CBI FIR include: N.K. Verma, R.N.S. Yadav, Ajeet Singh, Anish Kumar, Nityanand Yadav, Krishna Yadav, and Suryanath.

The FIR indicates that Krishan Yadav had already accepted bribes from candidates to secure their selection in the forthcoming examination. On March 1, he assured a candidate that he would be taken to a secret location on March 3, where the exam paper would be shared with him, and he would remain there overnight.

The handwritten question papers and their photocopies were confiscated, and upon comparison with the actual question paper, they were found to match.
