The CBI initiated this case on August 12, 2025, following a complaint from a private hospital located in Meerut, UP, against the two public servants.
According to the CBI's statement, the complainant, which operates multiple hospitals under various names in the Meerut area, accused the defendants of soliciting a bribe of Rs. 50 lakhs to prevent the de-empanelment of their facilities from the CGHS list of approved hospitals.
After negotiation, the accused public servants reportedly agreed to accept an initial payment of Rs. 5 lakhs on August 12, 2025.

The CBI noted that its searches revealed Rs. 29.50 lakhs in cash and various incriminating documents at the home of Ajay Kumar.
The investigation yielded an array of oral, documentary, and digital evidence that substantiated the accusations of criminal conspiracy, abetting, and the solicitation of illegal payments by the accused.
Earlier this week, the agency also apprehended a Superintendent and an Inspector from the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) in Mumbai, who were allegedly involved in demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a businessman.
