Kolkata, December 3 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced on Wednesday that the inquiry into the financial corruption allegations at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital has concluded, according to sources.
It has also been reported that the additional chargesheet submitted earlier this week is considered the final chargesheet.
The CBI has provided the necessary documents to the court on the same day.
This leads to the belief that the investigation into the financial corruption case at R.G. Kar has reached its endpoint. Past instances, however, have shown that further chargesheets might still emerge even after the final one.
During the hearing on Wednesday, the Special CBI Court indicated that since the trial commenced with the acceptance of a chargesheet, it poses no issue to accept an additional chargesheet under the same legal framework.
Nevertheless, CBI insiders have asserted that the chargesheet presented on Monday is indeed the final one. Consequently, the court intends to issue summons to the two individuals named in the additional chargesheet.
Investigations have reportedly uncovered that the then-principal of R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, along with the former Deputy Superintendent, Akhtar Ali, were the primary figures implicated in this corruption scandal.
It's significant to note that Akhtar Ali was the first to bring forth allegations of corruption against Sandip Ghosh.
Ali's name appears in the final chargesheet, alongside a new accused, Shashikant Chandak.
The court has mandated the CBI to serve summons to the accused Akhtar Ali on December 16.
Summons will also be dispatched to Shashikant.
Previously, the CBI had filed a chargesheet against Sandip Ghosh, Biplab Singh, Suman Hazra, Afsar Ali Khan, and Ashish Pandey in connection with this case.
All of these individuals were taken into custody during the corruption investigation.
