Mumbai, Dec 21 (NationPress) Renowned filmmaker Anees Bazmee took to social media to celebrate the 18th anniversary of his beloved romantic comedy 'Welcome', which was released in 2007. He noted that while the film may have aged, the affection from audiences remains as vibrant as ever.
Sharing memorable clips from 'Welcome' on Instagram, Bazmee wrote, '18 years of Welcome… and the love hasn’t aged a bit. From Majnu-Uday’s madness to Ghungroo’s priceless reactions, from Rajiv’s innocence to RDX’s swag - every character stayed, lived, and became family.'
The director also expressed heartfelt thanks to fans for their enduring support of the film over the years. 'Welcome became a mood, a reference, a comfort watch. Thank you for the love, the laughter, and for welcoming Welcome into your lives again and again,' he added.
On this special occasion, actor Anil Kapoor, who portrayed the role of Majnu, reminisced about how the late actor Feroz Khan single-handedly elevated the film with his dynamic performance as RDX.
Sharing a few nostalgic images from the film, Anil wrote, '18 years of Welcome. This one’s for Feroz Khan Saab. Welcome wasn’t Welcome without RDX, just like Mr. India wasn’t complete without Mogambo. Both are irreplaceable.'
He further recalled, 'I remember hearing the script and wondering how it would land. Anees bhai said, “Chinta mat karo… Feroz Saab picture utha lenge.” And he did. RDX lifted the film. This film, this character, this madness. Magic.'
Alongside Anil Kapoor and Feroz Khan, the film features a stellar cast, including Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Paresh Rawal, and Mallika Sherawat, with special appearances by Sunil Shetty and Malaika Arora.
It’s important to note that 'Welcome' marks Feroz Khan's final appearance on screen before he passed away due to lung cancer.
