Mumbai, Dec 21 (NationPress) As “Welcome” marks its 18th anniversary, Anil Kapoor reflects on the film with a sense of gratitude and nostalgia.
He paid a sincere homage to the late Feroz Khan. Reminiscing about Khan’s unforgettable role as RDX, Kapoor highlighted how the legendary actor infused the film with unparalleled energy and depth, making the character one of its most memorable elements. In his social media post, the Mr. India star acknowledged that Feroz Khan's remarkable performance significantly elevated the film.
On Sunday, Anil Kapoor took to his X account to share nostalgic images from the comedy-drama. In these throwback photos, he poses alongside Feroz Khan and Nana Patekar. One of the black-and-white pictures dates back to 1986, capturing the late actor with his arms around Anil. The subsequent images feature their scenes from “Welcome.” The Animal actor captioned, “18 years of Welcome. This tribute is for Feroz Khan Saab; Welcome wouldn’t have been the same without RDX, just like Mr. India isn’t complete without Mogambo. Both are truly irreplaceable.”
Anil Kapoor further reminisced, “When I first heard the script, I was unsure about its potential. I feared it would falter. Anees bhai reassured me, saying, ‘Don’t worry… Feroz Saab will uplift the film.’ And he did. RDX truly transformed this film, this character, this madness, this magic.”
Released in 2007, “Welcome” is a Hindi-language romantic comedy co-written and directed by Anees Bazmee. Loosely inspired by the 1999 English comedy “Mickey Blue Eyes,” the film featured a stellar ensemble cast led by Feroz Khan, Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar, Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Paresh Rawal, and Mallika Sherawat. Sunil Shetty and Malaika Arora also made special appearances.
This film also marked Feroz Khan's final on-screen role before his passing two years later from lung cancer.
