Celebrating 91 Years: Jabalpur's Lala Ramswaroop Panchang Gains Global Recognition

Jabalpur, Jan 12 (NationPress) It is fair to assert that the Lala Ramswaroop Panchang, a Hindu calendar based in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, has successfully completed a remarkable 91-year journey and has become a vital aspect of life for many individuals throughout the country.
The highly regarded annual calendar has now begun to establish a notable presence overseas, including nations such as the US, UK, and UAE, along with nearly every corner of the globe where Indian families reside, as stated by Prahlad Agrawal, the owner of the Lala Ramswaroop calendar.
In a recent interaction with IANS, Prahlad Agrawal, son of the calendar's founder, discussed the impressive journey of this calendar, which was initiated in 1934 by his father in their hometown of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.
“Over the last 91 years, the Lala Ramswaroop calendar has made its way into nearly every household from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and in recent years, it has also been embraced by numerous international communities. Families send this calendar to their children living abroad, contributing to its strong global presence,” he shared.
He explained that the calendar was originally introduced as a pamphlet detailing Hindu 'tithis' and 'nakshatras', which were distributed for free to the residents of Jabalpur.
As demand surged, the number of copies and the content expanded, transforming it into the most trusted Hindu Panchang in India.
“Due to the growing need for the Panchang, my father made the decision to print 500 copies for the first time. All copies were sold out within a few days, which motivated him to improve it year after year. Eventually, it evolved into our family business,” he noted.
Agrawal highlighted that he dedicates an entire year to compiling the information for this 12-page calendar (with one page allocated for each month).
“This is not merely a calendar; it represents the trust of millions. Therefore, we ensure to deliver precise information to uphold that trust,” he emphasized.
The calendar is crafted to be user-friendly, serving as a guide for astrological insights and the observance of Hindu festivals.
According to Agrawal, the Lala Ramswaroop calendar began incorporating digital formats around a decade ago, at a time when the public was largely unaware of such options.
The Lala Ramswaroop Panchang comprises details such as 'Tithi' (Hindu date), 'Vara' (days of the week), 'Nakshatra' (constellation), 'Yoga' (auspicious times), and 'Karan' (half of the Tithi).
