Key Takeaways
Chamoli, March 18 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), a skills training initiative by the Central government, is significantly enhancing the workforce.
In the district of Chamoli in Uttarakhand, numerous residents, especially women, have undergone comprehensive training through this program, enabling them to acquire the skills necessary for financial independence.
Approximately 200 women in the area have participated in the skill development initiative and are now involved in various projects, such as jute bag production, handicrafts, and more.
Some have even launched their own businesses, either independently or through Self-Help Groups, establishing a reliable source of income.
The increasing demand for jute bags and handicraft items has provided them with a chance to thrive. As a result, not only have they enhanced their economic status, but they have also experienced a surge in self-esteem.
Many of the participants expressed that this opportunity has fostered their journey toward self-sufficiency. Now, they contribute to their families' financial aspirations and play a more empowered role in their communities.
One beneficiary, Priyanka Devi, shared, "We come here to learn tailoring, and the training is exceptional. We've created our own stitched suits, and this skill will greatly benefit us."
Another participant, Himanshi, remarked to IANS, "We are being educated in a trade by the Government of India. This is wonderful, and it will ease our path to future employment."
Additionally, Seema mentioned, "We are acquiring new skills in tailoring. This is shaping a new identity for us. We can now work autonomously and earn money, no longer reliant on others for support."
