New Delhi, Sep 20 (NationPress) The Prime Minister Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), also known as the Prime Minister Youth Training Programme, is making a significant impact on the lives of youth in Kondagaon, Chhattisgarh, by providing them with market-relevant skills and enhancing their employment opportunities.
Introduced in July 2015, PMKVY is a flagship initiative of the Central Government aimed at training 1 crore young individuals by 2020.
The program's goal is to create job prospects for those with limited formal education or those who have dropped out of school.
Participants can enroll in training courses that range from three months to one year. Upon successful completion, trainees receive nationally recognized certificates.
This initiative has evolved into one of the largest skill development programs in India. Government statistics indicate that PMKVY has successfully trained approximately 13.7 crore individuals, preparing them for a fast-evolving job market.
To bolster this initiative, over 720 Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKKs) have been established across the country. These centers provide advanced vocational education using modern teaching methods and technology to enhance skills across various sectors.
Highlighting the program's benefits, Vidya Thakur, a student from Kondagaon, shared with IANS, “Thanks to PM Modi’s Kaushal Vikas Yojana, I am receiving free computer training. Additionally, I have gained from schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana and Ayushman Bharat. Without these initiatives, I would not have been able to develop my skills. This training will facilitate my job search in the future.”
She emphasized that such programs are not only creating job opportunities but also empowering individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly women.
“These initiatives are helping alleviate poverty, enabling women to achieve social and financial independence,” she remarked.
With its expanding reach, the Skill India mission under PMKVY continues to be pivotal in cultivating a workforce that aligns with the vision of a ‘New India’.
