Rajeev Chandrasekhar Critiques Congress's Sycophantic Culture
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Thiruvananthapuram, March 19 (NationPress) The President of Kerala BJP, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, stated on Thursday, "Success in the Congress Party requires one to be a sycophant."
While addressing the media, he added, "You cannot possess self-respect while being part of the Congress; these are fundamentally contradictory."
Chandrasekhar is set to contest from the Nemom constituency in the upcoming Kerala Assembly election, which is scheduled for April 9 to elect a new 140-member Assembly, with results announced on May 4.
He further noted, "A typical Malayali politician embodies remarkable self-respect."
The Kerala BJP President remarked, "Regrettably, when your party revolves solely around the sycophancy of one family, devoid of any ideology or unifying vision for the nation or state, it is only natural for Congress members to feel disillusioned."
He pointed out that senior leaders are leaving the Congress because the party prioritizes sycophantic loyalty to the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.
He asserted, "The only criterion for Congress leadership is your proximity to Rahul Gandhi or your level of sycophancy towards him. This is why numerous senior leaders are transitioning to the BJP-NDA; ultimately, people value their self-respect."
Chandrasekhar added, "They desire a political career that allows them to maintain their self-respect while working without the burden of catering to someone else's whims or merely endorsing statements made by a leader simply because he is Rahul Gandhi."
Regarding reports of Congress fielding former MLA K.S. Sabarinathan against him, Chandrasekhar said, "Everyone has the right to contest in the elections. I anticipate a robust contest, regardless of the candidates put forth by the Opposition."
He expressed that he sees these elections as a battle of ideas and development.
"If any MLA possesses great ideas for enhancing their constituency, I welcome the competition. It is not about A, B, or C; it is a contest between the NDA and others," he emphasized.
"We will see how it unfolds; everyone is encouraged to participate," the state party President concluded.
It is noteworthy that the BJP currently lacks representation in the 140-member Kerala Legislative Assembly, having lost its only seat in Nemom in the Thiruvananthapuram district following its historic win in 2016.
