New Delhi, Oct 25 (NationPress) - At Delhi's Anand Vihar railway station, a remarkable influx of travelers was observed on Saturday as the Chhath festival approached. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as individuals prepared to journey back to their hometowns in Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh to partake in the celebrations of Chhath Puja with their families.
The four-day celebration officially commenced on October 25 with Nahay-Khaay, marking the initial phase of the festivities.
Travelers at Anand Vihar expressed their appreciation for the arrangements provided by Indian Railways. Dedicated ticket counters facilitated smoother ticket purchases, and security measures were enhanced. Personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) were visible, assisting passengers with ticketing and boarding information.
In an interview with IANS, passenger Mohan Rai remarked, “The experience is quite comfortable. We are benefitting from excellent facilities here. I extend my gratitude to the police and railway officials for this organization.”
Another traveler, Rajan, shared, “I am headed to Bihar. The services are outstanding — I have never encountered such arrangements previously.”
To accommodate the increased passenger volume, Indian Railways has implemented extensive preparations. A round-trip Chhath Puja Special train has been scheduled between Rani Kamlapati and Hazrat Nizamuddin.
This special train will feature 22 LHB coaches, including two Second AC, three Third AC, six Economy Third AC, five Sleeper, four General Class, one SLRD, and one generator car.
As per the Railways Ministry, around 6,181 special trains are set to operate on October 28 to assist passengers returning to work after the holiday period. Overall, more than 12,000 special trains are being run nationwide, with over 900 extra trips planned in the forthcoming three days to handle the festival rush.
