New Delhi, Nov 14 (NationPress) Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) is on track for a remarkable win in the Bihar Assembly elections, currently leading in 21 out of the 29 seats it contested, as per the latest updates from the Election Commission’s website.
It's important to highlight that Chirag Paswan's party previously achieved a perfect 100 percent success rate in last year's Lok Sabha elections, winning all six seats it contested.
Significantly, during the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, he ran independently following disputes over seat-sharing.
While the party managed to secure just one seat out of 137 contested, it effectively diminished Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) voter base, reducing its seats from 71 in 2015 to a mere 43.
The party is currently leading in areas such as Rajaoli, Bodh Gaya, Gobindpur, Sherghati, Obra, Dehri, Nathnagar, Parbatta, and several others.
Furthermore, as per the early trends from the ECI, the BJP is poised to emerge as the largest party in the Bihar Assembly elections, leading in 87 out of the 243 seats, followed by JD(U) with 76 seats.
The NDA is currently ahead in 189 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan trails with 50.
The counting for all 243 Assembly seats began at 8 a.m., starting with postal ballot scrutiny, followed by EVM vote counting at 8:30 a.m., all under stringent multi-tier security across the state.
This counting operation is being supervised by 243 Returning Officers and an equivalent number of Counting Observers appointed by the Election Commission.
More than 18,000 counting agents, representing various candidates, are at the centers to closely monitor the process.
Access to counting centers is strictly limited to individuals with valid passes, and the use of mobile phones within counting halls is entirely prohibited.
In the outgoing Assembly, the NDA holds 131 seats, comprising BJP's 80, JD(U)'s 45, four from HAM(S), and two Independents. The opposition bloc holds 111 seats, with the RJD at 77, Congress at 19, CPI(ML) at 11, CPI(M) at two, and CPI at two.
