Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Dec 15 (NationPress) On Monday, the Chittorgarh District Collectorate was the recipient of a bomb threat sent via email, triggering an immediate alert.
The alarming message was dispatched at 12:47 am on Sunday to the official NIC email account of the Chittorgarh Collector.
Additional SP Sarita Singh stated that the email asserted that five bombs had been concealed within the collectorate's premises and were set to detonate during the day.
“The situation came to light on Monday morning at approximately 10:30 am when ADM Prabha Gautam alerted the relevant authorities,” he mentioned.
SP Singh elaborated that in response to the alert, a comprehensive security operation was initiated. The District Special Team (DST) and local Intelligence Bureau (IB) quickly commenced a search, while an ATS team from Udaipur and ERT commandos also arrived at the scene.
A bomb disposal squad and a dog squad were deployed to aid in the operation, where security personnel conducted a meticulous examination of the entire collectorate complex and its surroundings.
“All offices, rooms, corridors, parking areas, and outdoor spaces were rigorously inspected. Every suspicious area was scrutinized with the assistance of the dog squad to eliminate the presence of explosives,” he noted.
SP Singh confirmed that police and administrative officials remained on-site throughout the operation, advising staff to stay alert.
Despite the gravity of the threat, no suspicious items or explosives were discovered during the search. Nevertheless, security agencies maintained heightened vigilance and adhered to all established safety protocols.
He remarked that the police have launched an investigation to trace the source of the threatening email, with a technical and cyber analysis underway to identify the sender and the motive behind the threat.
“Officials have emphasized that such threats are treated with the utmost seriousness, and strict action will be taken against those responsible,” he added.
SP Singh also mentioned that security measures at the Chittorgarh Collectorate have been significantly reinforced.
Interestingly, a similar bomb threat was reported earlier that same morning at the Hanumangarh Collectorate, prompting an evacuation and extensive search operation there as well.
“Authorities have assured that the situation is under control and have encouraged both the public and employees to remain calm while staying vigilant,” he concluded.
