Bhubaneswar, Oct 16 (NationPress) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi officially launched the campaign for the significant Nuapada bypoll on Thursday, asserting that the dual-engine government at both the Centre and state levels is diligently working to elevate Nuapada district to new developmental heights.
During a large gathering at the Bijay Sankalp Samabesh in Nuapada, CM Mohan Charan Majhi reaffirmed his commitment to the district’s growth, promising to transform it from one of the most underdeveloped areas into one of the most advanced in the state.
He highlighted recent initiatives taken by the state government, mentioning the announcement of inaugurating and groundbreaking projects worth over Rs 1101 crore exclusively for Nuapada district.
Majhi noted that in the past 16 months, the state government has invested Rs 1400 crore in various projects for Nuapada district.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the ruling BJP consistently delivers on its promises, contrasting with the previous BJD government. He stated that within just 24 minutes of assuming power, the BJP had implemented significant electoral promises, such as the Subhadra scheme and increasing the total MSP on paddy to Rs 3100 per quintal under the Samrudh Krushak Yojana.
Majhi took a jab at BJD leader and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, accusing him of making empty promises regarding area development during elections, only to neglect them once in office.
He stated that BJP candidate Jay Dholakia would strive to continue the work of his father, the late Rajendra Dholakia, whose unexpected passing on September 8 led to the need for the bypoll in Nuapada.
The Chief Minister condemned personal attacks made against Jay Dholakia by BJD leaders after he switched allegiance to the ruling party, expressing surprise that Naveen Patnaik had not condemned such behavior from his party members. Majhi declared that the voters of Nuapada would respond decisively in the upcoming by-election.
Majhi dismissed the notion of a triangular contest, asserting that the real competition is between the BJP and the Congress. He called on district party workers to commit themselves entirely to achieving victory in the forthcoming Nuapada bypoll, as several members from BJD and Congress have joined the BJP during this significant event in Nuapada on Thursday.
