Amaravati, Dec 28 (NationPress) - The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday for his recognition of the Narsapuram lace craft.
In a post on 'X', CM Naidu thanked the Prime Minister who highlighted the Narsapuram lace craft during his 'Mann Ki Baat' program on Sunday.
"Thank you for your recognition of the Narsapuram lace craft, Hon'ble Prime Minister Modi Ji. Andhra Pradesh is a treasure trove of traditional arts that have been cherished by families and communities for generations. One such exquisite art form is crochet lace making, which has its roots in Narsapuram," posted CM Naidu.
"I deeply appreciate the skill and commitment of the women who have not only maintained this art but have also showcased it to the world. It is uplifting to witness their efforts thrive and receive the acclaim they rightfully deserve. We will continue to honor and support this art and empower the artisans associated with it," he added.
CM Naidu responded to the Prime Minister's post stating, "This initiative in Narasapuram has revived the local lace craft and empowered numerous individuals," as noted in the Prime Minister's message.
During his address, PM Modi emphasized that traditional arts not only uplift communities but also serve as significant drivers of economic development for individuals.
"The lace craft from Narsapuram district in Andhra Pradesh is now being recognized nationwide. This craft has been in the hands of women for countless generations," he stated.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the women of India have preserved the lace craft with immense patience and artistry. "Today, this tradition is being revitalized with new energy and innovation. The Andhra Pradesh Government and NABARD are collaborating to teach artisans new designs, enhance skill training, and connect them to fresh markets," he stated.
PM Modi also noted that Narsapuram lace has received a GI tag. "Currently, over 500 products are being produced from it, providing employment to nearly one lakh women across more than 250 villages," he added.
