Bengaluru, Jan 16 (NationPress) The Congress leadership has requested a report regarding the ministers who have discussed potential changes in leadership in Karnataka, despite prior admonitions from the higher authorities.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Working President Manjunath Bhandary mentioned on Thursday that the party has noted instances of ministers breaching Congress discipline by making media statements.
“AICC Karnataka in-charge Randeep Surjewala has emphasized that the party functions like a mother while the government is akin to its child. He has cautioned that the integrity of the party must not be jeopardized. Nonetheless, some leaders persist in making statements, which is unacceptable. Ministers R.B. Thimmapura, Satish Jarkiholi, and H.C. Mahadevappa have repeatedly spoken out, and the high command is taking their actions seriously,” Bhandary stated.
“The high command is thoroughly reviewing the performance of all ministers. A clear warning has been issued that those who continuously disregard party directives regarding leadership discussions will face repercussions moving forward,” he warned.
“Those who disobey the high command's orders are not regarded as disciplined members of Congress,” he added.
“Under the strong leadership of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, senior leader Sonia Gandhi, and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, our party's decisions about replacements, appointments, and leadership will be determined by the high command,” Bhandary emphasized.
“It is crucial that no minister makes public statements regarding leadership change. Discussions about leadership changes are strictly within the purview of the party's high command and should not be disclosed to the media. Therefore, any concerns must first be communicated to the high command and not made public. Reports on ministers who have spoken out have been requested by the high command,” he said.
Bhandary pointed out that there have been inquiries regarding the ministers’ performance over the last 18 months in their respective roles. “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar have both affirmed their commitment to any decisions made by the party high command. Nonetheless, the high command is seeking a detailed report on ministers who create unnecessary confusion through inappropriate remarks,” he elaborated.
“Critical areas under evaluation include: Did ministers visit district Congress offices during their district tours? Are they prioritizing the strengthening of the party organization? Are they collaborating with the party and government to fulfill manifesto promises? Furthermore, have they effectively implemented departmental plans?” Bhandary specified.
He further indicated that the high command has requested comprehensive details on these matters. Ministers who consistently breach party discipline by making media statements are under close scrutiny, and their complete records have been requested. This development is expected to generate controversy within the state Congress unit, as all three ministers flagged are aligned with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s faction.
