Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal remarked that the Special Intensive Review (SIR) is a mechanism for the Election Commission of India (ECI) to propagate the BJP's 'vote chori agenda' while neglecting its constitutional duties.
In a detailed strategy session, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge convened senior leaders to deliberate on the ongoing SIR being executed by the ECI across multiple states.
The meeting featured party General Secretaries, In-Charges, PCC and CLP leaders, alongside Secretaries from the states and union territories involved in the SIR process.
Post-meeting, Venugopal took to X, stating, "Under the leadership of INC President Mallikarjun Kharge and LoP Rahul Gandhi, we convened a review meeting with AICC General Secretaries, In-Charges, PCC Presidents, CLP Leaders, and AICC Secretaries from 12 states where the SIR is occurring."
The Congress MP from Alappuzha emphasized that while the revision of electoral rolls is an essential goal, it must be executed in a bonafide manner.
He added, "The ECI's actions thus far seem to promote the BJP's Vote Chori agenda, sidelining its constitutional duty of impartiality."
