Sonu Singh was apprehended on January 24, 2025, just two days following a violent showdown on January 22, in the village of Nauranga Jalalpur, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Pachmahala police station.
The altercation involved Sonu, his sibling Monu, and Anant Singh along with his allies.
The conflict originated over a brick kiln enterprise operated by Mukesh Kumar from Hemja village, with Sonu and Monu accusing Mukesh of misappropriating Rs 65 lakh and subsequently locking his residence.
Mukesh sought assistance from Anant Singh. As tensions mounted, Anant and his supporters arrived in a convoy of ten vehicles, prompting a violent confrontation.
Over 100 rounds of gunfire were exchanged between the two factions. Reports indicate that both sides utilized advanced weaponry during the intense firefight.
A serious gun battle erupted, drawing significant media attention and raising concerns about law and order in Bihar, despite the Patna police claiming to have recovered only three bullet casings from the site.
During the incident, one of Anant Singh’s supporters sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
The event garnered national scrutiny, sparking discussions regarding Bihar’s safety, especially as both parties engaged with the media before the arrests were executed.
Sonu Singh was the first to be apprehended, followed by Anant Singh’s surrender at the Barh court on the same day.
Sonu was initially detained at Phulwarisharif Jail in Patna before being transferred to Bhagalpur Jail.
Anant Singh is currently held in Beur Jail, Patna, with a bail hearing anticipated soon.
Sonu Singh’s legal representatives are now preparing for the necessary procedures for his release.
