Patna, Jan 22 (NationPress) Former MLA Anant Singh, a prominent figure in the Mokama area of Bihar, narrowly avoided a shooting incident on Wednesday, reportedly orchestrated by the infamous 'Sonu-Monu gang'.

The event took place in Nauranga village.

Sources indicate that intense firing occurred between two factions.

Anant Singh was targeted while visiting Nauranga village with his associates under the Panchmahala Panchayat.

Allegedly, the Sonu-Monu gang had taken control of a residence in the vicinity, prompting Singh to step in and negotiate a resolution.

Upon his arrival, Sonu and Monu reportedly acted inappropriately towards Singh and his team.

The altercation escalated, resulting in gunfire from both parties.

In the aftermath, police from five different stations responded to the scene and commenced an investigation.

Rakesh Kumar, SDPO of Barh Range, confirmed the incident, stating: "An application has been received, and suitable measures will be implemented. The confrontation arose during Anant Singh’s visit to Nauranga village."

Anant Singh, often referred to as “Chote Sarkar”, is a contentious leader and former MLA from the Mokama Assembly constituency in Patna district.

He is notorious for his connections to crime and was recently acquitted in a case involving the Arms Act.

In August 2024, Singh was freed from Beur Jail in Patna due to insufficient evidence, following a prior 10-year sentence under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Singh's political journey includes alliances with multiple parties such as the BJP, JD-U, and RJD.

Despite his controversial background, Singh wields considerable influence in the region.

Currently, his spouse, Neelam Devi, holds the MLA position from the Mokama Assembly constituency.

Meanwhile, the police are actively investigating the clash that occurred in Nauranga village.
