Daylight Burglary in Delhi: Complainant’s Son Arrested with Stolen Goods
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 19 (NationPress) In a shocking turn of events, two individuals, including the son of the complainant, have been apprehended for reportedly orchestrating a daylight burglary at a residence in the Shakarpur area of east Delhi. The police have successfully recovered stolen gold jewellery and cash totaling approximately Rs 20 lakh, as confirmed by an official on Thursday.
The incident was brought to light on March 18 following a PCR call that alerted the Shakarpur police station about a theft in a house situated in School Block.
Upon arrival, police found the complainant, Sarajit Sarkar, who operates a clinic at ITO, stating that he had secured his house before taking his family to Vaishali in Ghaziabad. Upon their return, they discovered the lock was ajar and the interior had been ransacked.
After a thorough inspection, it was revealed that gold jewellery and cash amounting to Rs 37,000 were missing. Following his report and an examination of the scene, police filed a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and initiated an investigation.
During the investigation, the absence of forced entry raised doubts about the nature of the theft. Investigators reviewed CCTV footage from the vicinity, tracked activity around the residence, and conducted technical surveillance, including a review of call records and digital communications.
The inquiry pointed towards the complainant’s son, Sayan Sarkar, 24, who allegedly conspired with his friend Vishal, 24, to fabricate the burglary due to financial difficulties stemming from losses in stock market trading.
Authorities stated that Sayan provided a duplicate key to the property and shared information regarding his family’s whereabouts. Once it was confirmed that the house was unoccupied, Vishal reportedly entered using the key and absconded with gold jewellery and cash.
Both suspects were arrested and during questioning, they admitted their participation in the crime. Their confessions were substantiated by the recovery of the stolen items, according to police reports.
The seized items include various gold bangles, necklaces, bracelets, chains, earrings, rings, pendants, and other jewellery.
Police confirmed that the case was resolved through a combination of CCTV analysis, technical surveillance, and intensive interrogation. Further investigations are ongoing.
