Delhi Police have arrested a domestic worker and her alleged accomplice in connection with a house theft at Krishna Nagar, recovering two diamond rings and ₹9,500 in cash, officials said on Sunday, 2 August. The breakthrough came after a multi-week investigation combining CCTV analysis, technical surveillance, and cross-state field operations.

How the Theft Unfolded

The case was set in motion when Sachin Gupta, a resident of Krishna Nagar, filed a complaint after discovering that valuables had been stolen from an almirah at his home on 22 June during the daytime. The stolen items included two diamond rings, a pair of gold jhumkas, and ₹15,800 in cash. An e-FIR was subsequently registered at Krishna Nagar Police Station on 25 June under Section 305(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Investigation and Arrests

Given the seriousness of the offence, a dedicated team was constituted under Inspector Vijender Rana, Station House Officer of Krishna Nagar Police Station, comprising Head Constables Neeraj, Naveen Malik, Sachin, and Arun. The probe was supervised by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Gandhi Nagar, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara.

Investigators visited the crime scene, recorded witness statements, and scrutinised CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Suspicion soon fell on Monika, the complainant's domestic worker, who had been present at the residence on the day of the theft. Technical investigation and sustained enquiry allegedly revealed that she had conspired with her associate, Vineet, to carry out the crime.

Acting on technical inputs and human intelligence, the police team traced Vineet to Taharpur Bhabisa village in Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh, where he was apprehended following a raid and sustained surveillance. During interrogation, Vineet allegedly disclosed Monika's involvement, leading to her arrest shortly thereafter.

Accused and Recovered Property

The two accused have been identified as Vineet (22), a resident of Taharpur Bhabisa village, Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh, and Monika (27), a resident of Nunakheda, Indawali, Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh. Police recovered two diamond rings and ₹9,500 in cash — described as a substantial portion of the stolen property. The gold jhumkas and the remaining cash are yet to be recovered.

What Police Said

Authorities highlighted the role of scientific investigation in cracking the case, stating that 'prompt detection of the case demonstrates the professional competence, vigilance and coordinated efforts of the staff of Police Station Krishna Nagar.' The police added that 'through scientific investigation, meticulous CCTV analysis, technical surveillance and sustained field efforts, the investigating team succeeded in identifying and apprehending both accused persons within a short span of time.'

Broader Context

The case underscores a recurring pattern in urban property crimes where domestic staff are implicated — often in coordination with outside associates. This is the latest in a series of theft cases in east Delhi resolved through coordinated cross-state operations, reflecting an increasing reliance on technical surveillance tools by local police stations. The remaining stolen items, including the gold jhumkas, are yet to be traced.
