Delhi Metro Police on Monday, 18 May 2026 arrested a 25-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh in connection with the theft of a gold and diamond ring at Chandni Chowk Metro Station, recovering the stolen jewellery from her possession. The case, registered under FIR No. 80037898/2026 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Kashmiri Gate Metro Police Station, was cracked through a coordinated operation involving CCTV analysis, technical surveillance, and ground intelligence.

After sustained efforts, the accused was identified as a resident of Hapur district in Uttar Pradesh who had been staying in Vaishali. Acting on this intelligence, the Special Staff Metro team, along with the investigating officer and local police personnel, reached Vaishali and conducted intensive searches lasting nearly four to five hours — without having the exact location of the suspect.

Police teams questioned several residents and shopkeepers during the operation before a secret tip-off finally led them to the accused. An immediate raid was conducted, and the woman was apprehended. The stolen gold and diamond ring was recovered from her possession. Verification subsequently revealed that she had no prior criminal record.
