New Delhi, Jan 16 (NationPress) Defence cooperation and bilateral issues were key topics during Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's recent phone call with the UK Secretary of State for Defence John Healey on Thursday.

They assessed the advancements made in specific defence technology sectors, including electric propulsion and jet engines. Both officials expressed their contentment regarding the recent signing of the Statement of Intent concerning Electric Propulsion, as per a statement.

The two ministers also evaluated the ongoing initiative for the exchange of military instructors within each other’s training institutions.

With the UK enhancing its focus on the Indo-Pacific region, both nations will investigate opportunities for collaborative efforts and elevated maritime interactions in 2025, the statement noted.

Earlier this month, while speaking at an Ambassadors' Round-Table event leading up to Aero India 2025, Rajnath Singh emphasized the necessity of navigating current geopolitical tensions to ensure shared prosperity and global peace.

He also urged for greater unity among the international community given the current security landscape, which he described as being in a state of flux with various conflicts and challenges.

"It is critical that nations sharing similar values work together for collective actions aimed at peace and prosperity. Without these efforts, future generations may miss out on the economic growth and technological advancements we are witnessing today," he conveyed to the Ambassadors and High Commissioners from various nations present at the event.

The 15th edition of Aero India is set to take place at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka in Bengaluru, Karnataka from February 10 to 14, 2025.

This five-day event will feature a variety of activities including a curtain-raiser, inaugural ceremony, Defence Ministers' Conclave, CEOs' Round-Table, iDEX start-up event, spectacular air displays, a vast exhibition area featuring the India Pavilion, and a trade fair for aerospace companies. The overarching theme is 'The Runway to a Billion Opportunities'.
