Earlier, General Chauhan conducted a roundtable dialogue with prominent officials, think tanks, and scholars, focusing on the transformation of the Indian military—its challenges and opportunities. The HQ, IDS reported on X that this engaging roundtable emphasized the evolving strategic environment and the necessity for modern military transformation.
General Chauhan's discussions further emphasized the vital role of advanced technologies in defense capabilities, operational enhancements, and closer collaboration in intelligence, cyber domains, and strategic communications to solidify a robust, forward-looking India-UK Defence Partnership.
On Monday, he received a ceremonial welcome from Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton, his UK counterpart. Their talks concentrated on expanding collaboration across cyber, intelligence, industrial partnerships, and joint exercises to bolster global security and resilience, as noted by the Indian High Commission in London.
General Chauhan also had discussions with India's High Commissioner, Vikram K. Doraiswami, who mentioned that this visit aims to deepen Defence Cooperation and facilitate advancements in defense industrial collaboration, cyber initiatives, strategic communication, and joint exercises.
The UK Defence Ministry confirmed that during General Chauhan's three-day visit, senior UK civil and military leaders would interact with him, and representatives from the British defense industry would discuss increased defense co-production between the nations. Additionally, General Chauhan is scheduled to tour the Royal College of Defence Studies, where he will meet a diverse group of international students.
This marks the inaugural official visit by an Indian CDS to the UK and is the fifth high-level military engagement between the UK and India this year, following the visit of the UK's Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Harv Smyth to India in March.
